Saturday we drove up to Wildwood to see the parents. My sister and her family drove down from Gainesville and we surprised them will all their grandchildren. (They wouldn’t let us leave them there with them… what’s up with that?) Dad was working on the house so we took Mom and went into “town” (okay, that’s funny..there is no town… they just call the bunch of old buildings down the street that) and to The Villages.
The Villages is this HUGE adult-living community (it covers three counties) where everyone drives around on tripped out golfcarts. There’s even special roads for the golfcarts and parking for them. They’re decorated, themed, and taken very seriously. They’ve created this community with beautiful homes and lots for all the adults to do.
There are several shopping areas there with specific themes. We went to Lake Sumpter Landings… themed like an old fishing village (or something). It’s cute… boutique-y stores, a Starbucks (thank goodness), and a “wharf.” We took a 15 minute ride on the lake and listened to our tour guide tell us “tall tales” about the area. I think Mom missed the part where the guy said these were “tall tales” because she asked him how old the lighthouse was and why it was built the way it was… we were all laughing too hard to clue her in right away.
Anyway… we had a great afternoon with Mom.. & I got some cute pics of the kids. (wishing there wasn’t so many shadows in this one. The kids wouldn’t stand in the sun.) 😦
Good thing I have a fast camera… these kids did NOT want to be right there at that moment. I think the one below is my favorite…
Can you hear the scrapbook pages calling??
