Sometimes its in very small bursts.
Sometimes I need a little push to get to scrapping again. And lucky for me I know just the gals. We three need a challenge every-now-and-again to get the mojo flowing.
It started with the song lyric “and the reason is you”. Jen thought it was a great idea. And then Jules reminded us that she had already done a layout with that same darn song lyric – a year ago. (so much for my original idea)
We went with it anyway… it had been a while since we were inspired. Here’s what I did with it.

I love this photo of my crew in NYC. It’s a favorite that I have all over the place – home, office, and now in my scrapbook. Lots of different brands and “stuff” on here. I’m happy with how this came out.
Since I was on a roll, I decided to do another one.

I mean, I had some shamrock paper and these cute photos my mother-in-law took of the kids… so why not?
That was about the time my roll came to an abrupt end. No more layouts for me. Oh well. It was a small burst of inspiration, but a good one.

Card Swappin’
I’ve been doing some card making. Haven’t scrapped a lick… but made these cards.

The cards that I’ve been getting from my fellow swappers have been seriously FABULOUS. Awesome and amazing.
I’m hoping mine get better with time.
Maybe it’ll get me to start scrapping again too. We’ll see.

Not cut out for being a tortured artist.
I scrapped this weekend… and geez, had it been a while! Maybe I scrapped because I was less stressed? Well, a teeny-bit less stressed, anyway.. let’s not get crazy and think that I could be completely stress-free.
We found out that the boy does NOT have to go to summer school as feared. He passed the state standardized tests (that I despise but will try to stay off of my soapbox for the moment) and will be heading to Middle School in the fall with no worries that he has to retake the damn thing. Hallelujah!
Maybe that teensy bit of stress off my shoulders let me be a little more creative this weekend?

This was fun. I don’t think that I’m the tortured artist type… how could you possibly be a tortured artist while cutting out little squirrels and owls?

Here and There
It’s been pretty eventful around here lately…
We had some of this:
… which was awesome, by the way. From what I hear from those people who live above the Mason Dixon, snow that lasts longer than a day can be sorta bad and quite uncomfortable. Our snow was melted (mostly) before we went to bed that night.
I went here:
And discovered my new favorite building (The Library of Congress):
I never knew how incomplete my life was without having a favorite building… but, now I feel much better knowing that it’s there. Man, it’s beautiful.
I also did some scrappy stuff:
These are for the kids to journal in when we go to NY in a few weeks. Or ignore them and toss them under the seats in the car. Whatever.
I know, crappy photo… I’ve been having this problem lately. This was for a J(3) challenge… I did one, Jen did one, and Julie did 753. Guess who won?
Between those things I’ve been reading a lot of books (yeah, still vampires) or networking and reconnecting (taking care of my virtual pet) on Facebook.
Exciting, I know.

Whatcha been up to?
It’s been a busy month so far… lots of stuff going on and some projects to share. I also went on a little trip to Virginia Beach to hang out with my former assistant. Had fun, fun, fun. (and we were no where near the beach)
And then she put me to work in her new office.
The nerve.
My new phone didn’t work so well while I was gone. Well it worked. But it worked like a phone…and that was it. It wasn’t supposed to be just a phone. Why would I want *just* a phone? I mean, really. A phone?
Oh – and it only took me two years… but I finally have an Atlanta phone number. So, uh, I guess that means that I really live here now.
While living here, you know in Atlanta, I did scrap a bit for Serendipity Kits:
There’s more… and you can check it all out here… along with an awesome January GIVE-A-WAY! (the photo looks like this because it was taken with my… phone)
So – don’t be such a stranger, okay?

Because I have all this free time on my hands.
In between all 50+ hours I spend at work, spending time with the family, and becoming obsessed reading the Twilight books (currently book 4), I haven’t forgotten how to scrapbook.
(sometimes I feel like I’ve forgotten… you know, when I sit staring at something I’ve just finished and absolutely HATE it, it looks like crap and I have to pull it all apart and put it back together again to try and make it look like an ADULT who sort of knows what she’s doing actually did this… but, I digress)
I did this Friday night after seeing similar items on Etsy.
It took me maybe about 30-45 minutes (yeah, it probably looks it), but I thought it was cute & it turned out to be a fun project. I may make more of these for Christmas and the kids’ birthdays. (this was made pre-Twilight – since I can’t seem to put down these damn books)
I also participated in a weekend challenge with Jen & Julie. As it turns out, I’m the ONLY ONE who completed the challenge! <<hairball>> We decided to make a December Daily album (a la Ali). Here’s mine:
And then I did this layout a week or so before the album. It talks about the sticker on the back of my car, how I felt about it being put on there, and then finding a note on my car by a stranger who was moved by what the sticker says about my Mom. (I’ll have to post the entire story later)
So… there you have it. This is what I’ve been spending my time doing. Of course, we all have to make sacrifices to do the things we want to do.
Apparently my sacrifice is…sleep. Who needs it, anyway?
